Sally Sparks is a textile artist working in a variety of media, after a career in television. She has always had an interest in the arts, stitching from an early age, but had no formal art training, until taking a City and Guilds course in creative embroidery and design. This started a whole new life in the world of textiles. She is a founder member of Gordano Textile Artists, a renowned exhibiting group in the Bristol area, and a member of the Embroiderer's Guild. Together with an embroidery friend, she has studied the superb costumes of the Miao people of south-west China. She has travelled widely, many of the trips with her husband, one-time head of the BBC Natural History Unit. Foreword by Tony Soper "I have had the good fortune to travel with Sally and her husband to a lot of the world's wild places in pursuit of wildlife film. But the most exciting and rewarding times have been when we explored Antarctica and the islands of the Southern Oceans" ............ "In truth it is only now, having seen the results of her concentration, that I have seen the light. She raises rust to riches."
